Things to do whilst recovering from surgery

Let's face it, sitting around in pain, not being able to do much can get boring. Recovering from surgery sitting around vs every day chronic illness sitting around are different. When its daily, you can at least move a little here and there but when you've had surgery, that's not really an option for the first few days/1-2 weeks and mentally it can be exhausting, especially in the hospital.

Here's a list of things to do after surgery, hospital and home friendly :

  • Read a book

  • Watch a movie/show

  • Colouring

  • Drawing

  • Write

  • Sort your phone out, e.g. delete photos, files/documents, edit things, emails plaetc

  • Online games and board games

  • Talk with family and friends

  • Listen to music, audiobooks and podcasts

  • Learn a new language

  • Paint your nails

  • Scroll through social media

  • Get started on your to do list - things you can do from your bed

  • Learn a new skill/hobby

  • Do some online shopping
